Individuals for the 101km course
Age on the day of the event:
Male and Female
  • Juniors 13-18yrs (must have parents consent)
  • Open 19+
  • Vintage 1 35+
  • Vintage 2 45+
  • Vintage 3 55+
  • Classic Vintage 4 60+
  • Classic Vintage 5 70+
The Moa Beer "Speed Bunnies"

This section is for pro/elite racers. Riders must be nationally registered and show this documentation at registration. The women will ride in their own group for '09' and complete the standard 101km course. The men will also start their event at Forrest and will be first away for the 101km circuit at 8.15am.  There is a cash prize pool and a stunning trophy for both the mens and womens "Speed Bunny" section and finishers down to 5th placing will be recognised in cash as long as there are a minimum of 50 riders in both these groups. Leppin will be putting up the King and Queen of the mountain trophies along with Leppin products.

Standard Team-(3 riders)
All team members are to ride the full 101km course with the team time beng the accummulation of the three individual times.

Relay (2-3 riders)
One rider to complete each section with transitions at Picton and Havelock. Teams will provide their own transport to the two transition areas. If there are only two relay riders one rider will have to ride two legs.

Tandems
Two categories for 2009.  The first will be for the 101km course and the second is the new Magnum section which is twice round the 101km course.  The tandem Magnums will start at 6am with the solo Magnum riders.

Ancient (Old Clanger)
This section is for individuals. Bike must be 50yrs plus and single speed. There is no age or gender classification. Prize for fastest, best presented bike, and best presented rider. Dress should match the theme of the "Grape Ride".

Recumbents
One category

Leppin Magnum (202km)
It's twice round the stunning 101km circuit and will have male and female categories with prizes down to third place. This is available to all recreational riders. There will be an early start time at Forrest Estate of 6am sharp. Pease note that all riders in this category must carry and show all the appropriate safety equipment such as reflective clothing and approved lights as outlined in the safety briefing notes in the race packs when they register. See the Q & A's on the for the exact list of safety equipment required. No safety equipment, no ride.

Riders have the choice of completing the 19km or 101km course. Participants in the Cancer Riders section can either be recovered or recovering cancer patients.

Paracyclists
This category is for those cyclists who do not have the funcitionality or are missing part of their lower limb namely their leg or legs.  There are both male and female sections.  


"The Ulltimate"  (5 laps of the 101km course)

Yes you read right!  5 laps and a sore bum after 20 odd hours in the saddle.  Riders will start at Forrest Estate on Friday the 3rd.  Registration will be between 10am and 1.30pm on the Friday.  Start time for this is 2pm and riders will begin their epic journey out on SH 6 directly in front of The Forrest Estate stone wall.  

 The 42km "Taster Course"

Age on day of event for both male and female:

  • 12 - 18yrs  Spring Chickens!
  • 19 - 29        Likely Lads!
  • 30 -44        The We Can Do Anythings!
  • 45 -59        The We Have Done Everythings!
  • 60 plus       The Starting Overs!
