The 101km Graperide Course

The Marlborough Grape Ride traverses a 101km circuit through some of the most stunning scenery New Zealand has to offer. From the Forrest Estate Winery stone wall which is located in the capital of the New Zealand wine industry, Renwick, it’s a flat route to Blenheim. Riders then head north and gently climb into Picton with an exhilarating descent into the centre of the town. Climbing out of Picton, the route follows the picturesque Queen Charlotte Drive around the head of Queen Charlotte and Pelorus Sounds, literally a ride through nature’s photo album. The stunning scenery of Ngakuta and Momorangi Bays passes as the ride winds and twists to The Grove.

A flat ride to Linkwater leads onto Mahakipawa hill and more breathtaking scenery, followed by a descent to the outskirts of the mussel capital, Havelock. Left turn onto SH 6 and it’s homeward bound across gently rolling terrain, hopefully with the prevailing breeze at your back and home to Renwick. Off the bike and you’re in the grapes with our celebrity guests, treading grapes for processing into an exclusive Forrest Estate vintage for next year’s event.

The 101km Graperide Profile
Profile of the 101km course.  It is taken off Google using "Map My Ride" software and will be accurate to a variance of plus or minus 5%.

"The Brand New 42km Taster Course"

This new shorter course has been introduced for those riders that simply have not had enough time to get that required amount of training in to tackle the biggy being the full 101km course.
Riders will start at Forrest Estate and travel the same route as the long course until they reach the little settlement of Tuamarina where they will turn left onto the Tuamarina Track.  The road is a really pleasant and interesting road with lots of windy bends and flows the Wairau River right through to SH 6.  You will then turn left onto SH 6 and cross the Wairau River bridge and have just under 2km to the finish.  The course is dead flat with only some minor undulations  along the middle section of the Tuamarina Track.  This is an excellent course for beginners and younger riders.

The 42km Taster Course Profile.  Pretty flat eh!!!
